2022 National Games

The National Summer Games, that were due to be held in 2021 in Liverpool, were cancelled due to the global pandemic. In place of this event Special Olympics GB are planning a Summer Series of Sport, for the summer of 2022 that will be running between June and September 2022.

The Special Olympics GB Summer Series of Sport will be 17 single and multi-sport events, providing competition in a minimum of 12 sports, including athletics, swimming and basketball, across Great Britain. This will offer the opportunity for at least 1,500 Special Olympics GB athletes, with the support of our volunteers, to compete for the first time since February 2020 due to the consequences of Covid-19.

Suffolk will be hosting two events as part of this series – Athletics in Bury St Edmunds and Gymnastics in Lowestoft, both being held in July. We also plan to have athletes representing our county at the national events being held in Football, Boccia and Badminton, as part of the Summer Series of Sport 2022.
