Special Olympics Suffolk is proud to announce that Adam Szucs is one of two Suffolk athletes to be selected to represent Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB) in the 2019 World Summer Games which will be held in Abu Dhabi from 14th to 21st March. He will compete in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay. Similar to the Olympics, this is the pinnacle for athletes with an intellectual (learning) disability to compete and achieve on the world stage
Adam, who lives in Lowestoft, has competed in numerous Special Olympics and able bodied competitions across the east region and midlands over the past few years. His qualification for SOGB selection was achieved through medal winning performances while representing the Eastern Region at the 2017 SOGB National Summer Games in Sheffield. At the Games he won gold in the 100m and bronze in both the 200m and long jump. He was also a member of the 4 x 100m relay team which won bronze
This is the first time that Special Olympics Suffolk will be represented at the World Summer Games. Great credit is due not only to Adam but also to his coaches and family who have provided him with the necessary support over the years. A just reward for hard work combined with undoubted talent
Special Olympics Suffolk, together with Adam’s network of family and friends are now faced with raising the necessary funding to cover costs of getting there and competing in the Games. A Virgin Money Giving fundraising page has been set up on which donations may be made directly through the following link
Alternatively individuals, organisations or businesses wishing to contribute through other means or to have an informal conversation may make contact through his father Chris Szucs via Email at suchiesnew@aol.com or phone 07539370334
This will be a life changing experience for Adam and an opportunity for him realise his dream of representing GB at the highest level. Any donation which you may be able to make will be greatly appreciated by Adam
