In just a few days the Suffolk team will be making their way to Sheffield for their first National Games. They have all been on an amazing journey of hard work and dedication to get here. GOOD LUCK to all our athletes competing this year.

On Tuesday our athletes got a well deserved send off in the run up to this months 2017 National games in Sheffield. We have a huge amount of support from the local community and we can’t wait to see how our athletes do. Well done to all our athletes at the Special Olympics Southern Region competition at Thames Valley Eton.
Special Olympics GB is thrilled to announce that James Toseland – former double World Superbikes Champion turned rock music artist and icon – has with Toby Jepson written, produced and re-recorded ‘We’ll Stop at Nothing’ to become the 2017 Official Special Olympics National Summer Games Anthem. The song is being released today with all profits going to the charity to support athletes with learning disability.

A team of Athletes from Special Olympics Suffolk went to UEA Norwich for the Norfolk Track and Field Championships where they held a Special Olympics Competition last weekend.
All the Suffolk Athletes came home with at least one medal and some had Personnel Best performances.
It was a wonderful day and every one had a great time. Special Olympics Norfolk did a great job organising the events.

This week our Waveney Gymnasts group did some fundraising by the one stop shops in Worlingham. Both jack and Rudi (in the picture above) are proudly receiving the cheque for 370 pounds, such a great achievement.
Well done boys, it’s great to see such passion and enthusiasm to fundraise for your sport.

The Waveney Gymnastics club went on a trip to Glasgow to take part in a training camp and a control competition which was in preparation for the National Games this coming August. They travelled to Glasgow on Friday 28th April and trained over the weekend. It was an invitational event, which meant Jersey Special Olympics Gymnastics Club, City of Glasgow gym club and Waveney attended the training camp. The gymnasts trained at the City Of Glasgow gymnastics club and Inverclyde National Sports Centre Gymnastic facilities over the weekend. This was a great chance for the athletes to warm up before the National Games in Sheffield.
